SSVFD Responds to House Fire at 2100 Block of Bordly Drive – Thursday, May 23, 2019

On Thursday, May 23, 2019 at approximately 11:15PM, the Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department (SSVFD) and surrounding departments were alerted to a rural house fire in Company 40’s area in the 2100 Block of Bordly Drive.
Units arrived on scene and found a single family home with smoke showing on side C (rear of the home). Upon further investigation, units found a fire in the second floor bedroom. Units went to work to extinguish the fire, check for extension, and ventilate the smoke from the house. The cause was determined to be a candle left unattended on a wicker dresser, used during the power outage from earlier storms.
Multiple Sandy Spring units were on scene, including Chief 704 (Command), Car 704, Paramedic Engine 704, Tanker 704, Paramedic Engine 740, Aerial Tower 740, and Ambulance 740.
