House Fire on Brinkwood Road

On Thursday, November 2, 2017 at approximately 1751 hours, Sandy Spring Stations 4 and 40 were alerted to a house fire in Station 04’s area in the 100 block of Brinkwood Road. While units were enroute, a Water Supply Task Force and Rapid Intervention Dispatch were dispatched. Paramedic Engine 704 arrived on scene with Tanker 704 and found a large 2 story house with heavy fire showing from the 2 story attached garage. An quick attack was made to knock down the fire. Tanker 704 along with surrounding tankers supported the initial water supply until units were able to establish and pull a draft from a nearby pond. Units stayed on scene for quite some time to extinguish fire, check for extension, and complete overhaul. One person was transported to a local hospital for evaluation.
It is very important to make sure that all plants, brush, and trees are trimmed/ pruned back at all times to allow us to access hydrants and static water supply sources such as ponds, lakes, and streams.
