On December 28, 2017 at approximately 9:10pm, SSVFD Paramedic Engine 740 and Aerial Tower 740 were alerted with surrounding units for an apartment fire in the 14300 block of Georgia Avenue. Initial units found smoke showing from the rear of a 4 story structure, and then found fire in a terrace level utility closet. The fire extended into apartments on all 4 levels from a pipe chase.
Paramedic Engine 740, Aerial Tower 740, and Chief 704 Bravo arrived on scene quickly and went to work. A RID (Rapid Intervention Dispatch), second alarm, and additional EMS units were requested, which summoned Sandy Spring units Ambulance 740, Canteen 740, Ambulance 704, and Paramedic Engine 704 to assist.
