Tuesday, March 24, 2020 – Sandy Spring Units Respond to Fire with Reported Entrapment at the 3900 Block of Bel Pre Road

Sandy Spring units responded, with units from adjoining fire departments, to a report of a fire with entrapment at the 3900 block of Bel Pre Road that was dispatched at 3:03PM on March 24, 2020. Sandy Spring Paramedic Engine 740, Aerial Tower 740, and Ambulance 740 were among the 1st units dispatched. SSVFD Chief Dinowitz (C704) also responded and was on scene. A task force of additional units was subsequently dispatched to help bring the fire under control. SSVFD’s Canteen (CT740) was on scene supporting fire personnel as they rotated in and out of the fire ground. The MCFRS PIO reported the fire was in a multi-family dwelling and the cause was improperly discarded cigarettes in a 2nd floor bedroom. The PIO estimated damage of ~$275K to property and contents with at least 12 adults & 4 children displaced. Approximately 85 fire and rescue personnel were on scene at the height of the incident and there were no injuries.
