SSVFD Holds it Annual Election for Administrative and Operational Leadership – Wednesday, June 12, 2019

The Sandy Spring Volunteer Fire Department (SSVFD) held it’s annual elections for Administrative and Operational Leadership on Wednesday, June 12, 2019. Acting Chief Mitchell Dinowitz was elected Fire Chief, in his own right, for a two year term (through June 2021).  Chief Dinowitz has served as Acting Fire Chief of the SSVFD since May 15, 2019, after Chief Kelley resigned before the end of his term to take a paid position with Montgomery County Fire and Rescue Service (MCFRS).  While serving as Acting Fire Chief, Dinowitz was in command on two large working fires in SSVFD’s first due area, including the fire on June 1 that went to three alarms.  President Johnie F. Roth, Jr. is in the middle of his two year term and thus continues as President of the SSVFD for another year (through June 2020).  Vice-President Brendan Bonita, Secretary Michael Valente, and Treasurer Stephen Lamphier were all re-elected to new terms expiring Jun 2020.  Three Directors begin the second year of their two-year terms: John Lindner, Justin Stine, and David Swann.  George Brown was re-elected to a new two-year term (through 2021).  Steve Hamato, who had served on the Board in the past, was newly elected for a two year term (through (2021). Finally, Ali Waseem, was newly elected to serve a two-year term on the Board (through 2021).
