SSVFD Annual Open House – Sunday, October 6, 2019

When                   Sunday, October 6, 2019 – 1:00pm-4:00pm
Where:                 Station 40 – 16911 Georgia Avenue, Olney, MD 20832

Fun opportunity for kids to meet firefighters and see cool equipment used in fire and rescue work.   Kids can see Sparky the Fire Dog, learn “Stop, Drop, and Roll”, and play fire fighter dress up.   Parents can learn about Fire Safety, Emergency Preparedness, Bike Helmet Safety, and Car Seat Safety and learn about hosting your child’s birthday party at the fire department.  There will be CPR demos, child safety seat demos, bike helmet safety info, emergency preparedness info, live fire-fighting demonstrations, and fire extinguisher demonstrations. There will also be a fire safety house, smoke detector display, extinguishing a stove fire demonstration, and street address display.  Explore opportunities to volunteer in an exciting field while giving back to your community as a firefighter, EMT, paramedic, or auxiliary member.  See fire engines, a 100’ ladder truck, rescue vehicles, and rescue boats up close and personal.  Learn about the Fire Department’s 4,000 sq ft “Oak Ballroom”, available for private and community events.  Learn about other annual events including Santa and Chanukah Fire Engine runs, National Night Out, Olney Days, and the 9-11 Candlelight Tribute.
