Sandy Spring Takes Delivery of New Brush Truck
On Tuesday September 1, 2015… Members traveled to the Eastern Shore to Inspect, and take delivery of Brush-740. The unit, built by Winstead’s Fire Equipment of Denton, MD is a 2014 Ram 5500 4X4 with a Reading Aluminum Service Body. It features custom diamond plate compartments designed very similar to the compartments on the old brush truck it will replace… a 1997 Ford F-350, which is still serving the community as our Boat Support Unit. Other features include a 200 Gallon Booster Tank, a 500 GPM Pump, and front spray nozzles located under the bumper. It will take some time to mount equipment, bring members up to speed on the unit’s specifications, and have the required inspections performed. When the unit is placed in service, it will join ATV-740-Bravo, our Brush ATV in fighting fires in hard to reach off-road areas that conventional fire engines cannot reach due to their size and weight.
